1. Will masks be required for students to wear at school?

For situations where social distancing is possible, masks will not be required but will be strongly encouraged. If social distancing is not possible, all students as well as employees will be required to wear masks. Some situations which will require masks are when on the school bus, when classes are in the hall at the same time, when social distancing is not possible in the classroom, when multiple students are in the restroom, and when students are entering the building during car rider drop-off.

2. How will Digital Learning be structured this year?

Elementary students will be using a program called Schools PLP. Each student will also be assigned a digital classroom teacher from Catoosa County Schools to help monitor and aid students. If you signed up for digital learning, you will receive more information soon.

3. Is it possible to register and start my student as a Digital Learning student and then change my mind before the end of the nine weeks?

No, in order for a student to participate in DL, primary and elementary students must commit to a nine week grading period.

4. Is it possible to send my student to school and then change my mind and register for DL?

Yes. Students may change from face to face instruction to digital learning at any time. However students may not change from digital learning to face to face until the end of the nine week period.

5. Will there be an Open House prior to the start of this school year?

Yes. A drive by “Meet and Greet” will be held on the following dates and times:

● Pre-K August 18th 1pm - 4pm
● Kindergarten August 18th 4pm - 7pm
● First: August 19th 4pm - 7pm
● Second: August 20th 4pm - 7pm

This will give students, parents, and teachers the opportunity to wave hello, drop off school supplies and pay for fees. Teachers will be located in the front of BPS along the sidewalk in the car rider line. There will be tables and visible signs for drop-off medication, supply fees, lunch payments, and ASP registration/payments. **Supplies should be labeled with the student’s name. Checks made out to BPS are preferred, but cash can be accepted as long as it is in a sealed envelope with the student’s name and teacher’s name on the outside (exact amount required). 6. When will students participating in Digital Learning receive their Chromebook/iPad?

Students participating in Digital Learning will need to pick up their device on August 21st from 9am - 1pm. Parents will drive to the back of the building where busses pick-up and drop off. Someone will greet you and give you your ipad.

7. Will BPS have an aftercare program this year?

Yes. An ASP handbook and registration form will be given to those who are interested in aftercare. There is a $5.00 enrollment fee and the prices are in the handbook. NOTE: Students are eligible to stay in ASP once a completed registration form is submitted and the enrollment fee is paid.

8. When will my student be notified of his/her assigned teacher(s)?

Teachers will be calling parents before Open House to introduce themselves. Then at Open House you will meet the teacher face to face in the drive-through.

9. What is the policy for parents and/or visitors coming into the building this year?

Due to the safety concerns relating to the Coronavirus, we are only allowing students and employees to enter our building at this time; this includes the first day of school on August 24th. This decision is extremely difficult for us because we truly value our parents and want them to be part of our team. However, the safety of our children is our priority.

10. How will parents check out their students during the day or sign in students who are tardy?

Parents will ring the doorbell at the front door and the receptionist will answer. The parent will tell the receptionist what they need, the name of the student, and show their identification in the camera. The receptionist will proceed with calling the student to the office, making note of the time, reason, and person checking out/in the student then walk the student to the front door. The same process will apply to students being sent home by the school nurse.
